Chutney and pickle have a special place in Indian cuisine, if we serve pickle along with food then one's hunger increases. So we make various types of pickles and store them for later use.
Amra is a sour fruit used in making Chutney or pickle and is available in the market during the summer season. Let us start preparing Amra pickle.
- Ingredients for Amra achaar
- Amra - 250 grams
- Heeng(asafoetida) - 2 pinch
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
- Yellow mustard - 2 tsp
- Mustard oil - 2 tbsp
- How to make Amra achar
Wash Amra fruits properly.Cut off its stems on both ends, then cut the fruit into thin round pieces.
Pour mustard oil in the pan(kadhai) and heat. Turn off the gas and put Heeng in hot oil, followed by pieces of Amra and salt. Mix all the contents in the pan properly. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and yellow mustard then mix thoroughly.
After the pickle cools down fill it in an ari tight container. Do stir the pickle once in a day(up to 4-5 days) with a clean and dry spoon.
Amra pickle is ready. You will surely enjoy the sweet and tasty pickle made from Amra. Serve along with your favorite food.
To increase the shelf life of the pickle, pour oil in the container enough to submerge the pickle.
