Tomato chaat is one of the famous dishes of Banaras. It is very easy to make and its taste is also amazing. Its sour sweet taste will not be removed from your tongue. All the ingredients for making Tomato Chaat are available in your kitchen. So you can also make sweet and sour tomato chaat and enjoy the taste of Banaras.
Ingredients for Tomato Chaat
Tomato - 4 (400 g)
Ghee - Desi Ghee - 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
Ginger - 1 inch, finely chopped
Green Chilli - 2, finely chopped
Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - ½ tsp
Potato - 3 (250 g), Boiled
Black Salt - ½ tsp
Dry Mango Powder - ½ tsp
Garam Masala - ¼ tsp
Roasted Cumin Seeds Powder - ½ tsp
Chaat Masala - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1-2 tbsp
Lemon Juice - ½ lemon
Desi Ghee - 2 tbsp
For sugar syrup
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Roasted Cumin Seeds Powder - ¼ tsp
Black Salt - ¼ tsp
Process of making Sugar Syrup
Put 2 tbsp of sugar and ½ cup of water in a pan and cook till the sugar dissolves. When sugar dissolves in water, add ¼ tsp of roasted cumin powder and ¼ tsp of black salt. Cook it for 1-2 minutes while mixing and the syrup will be ready.
Process of making Tomato Chaat
Wash and dry 4 tomatoes (400 grams) thoroughly. Remove the seeds and chop them finely. Then put 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan and heat it. Reduce the flame to low and put ½ tsp of cumin, 1 inch of ginger finely chopped, 2 finely chopped green chillies, finely chopped tomatoes, ½ tsp of turmeric, 1 tsp of coriander powder and 1 tsp of kashmiri red chilli.
Add the tomatoes to the spices by turning the flame to medium. After mixing, add ½ tsp of salt and cook while stirring. Cover them and cook for 3-4 minutes on low-medium flame. After the time is up, mash them lightly. Now add ½ cup of water and cook till it boils. When it comes to boil, mash 3 boiled potatoes well, add ½ tsp of black salt and ½ tsp of dry mango powder. Mix them well and cook while mashing them.
When the spices are mixed well, add ½ tsp of roasted cumin powder, 1 tsp of chaat masala and 1-2 tbsp of green coriander and mix it well. Then add ½ lemon juice and mix it and the tomato chaat will be ready.
Put tomato chaat, 1 tsp of desi ghee, 2-3 tsp of sugar syrup, a little chaat masala, a little roasted cumin powder, a little salt and some green coriander in the bowl. Serve tomato chaat like this and enjoy its taste.
Suggestions
