Maharashtra Special Misal Pav Recipe

Misal Pav is one of the famous dishes of Maharashtra. It is very easy to create it. Misal is made from sprouted matki dal. Its taste is very wonderful, if you eat it once, you will like to eat it again and again. Make this delicious misal pav of Maharashtra with a very easy method and enjoy the taste with your whole family.
Ingredients for Misal Pav
Moth Beans - ½ cup
Salt - 1.5 tsp
Oil - 3 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - ½ tsp
Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
Coriander Powder - 1.5 tsp
Curry Leaves - 10-12
Ginger - 1 tsp, grated
Green Chilli - 1, finely chopped
Tomato - 2 finely chopped
Asafoetida - ½ pinch
Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp
Kashmiri Red Chilli - 2 tsp
Coconut - 2 tbsp, dessicated
Garam Masala - ¼ tsp
Jaggery - 1 tsp
Lemon - ½
Coriander Leaves - 2-3 tsp
Process of boiling Dal
Wash and soak ½ cup of matki dal in water (twice as much water as lentils) and cover it for 10-12 hours. After the time is up, drain the water and wash it back. Then put a wet towel on the sieve and put lentils in it. Place a small bowl on a plate, keep a sieve over it and keep it overnight. On the second day it will sprout.
Mix sprouted lentils, 1 cup of water, ½ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder in the cooker. Close the cooker and cook it on high flame till one whistle. After a whistle, reduce the flame to low and cook for 2 minutes. When the time is over, the dal will be ready after boiling, turn off the gas and let the pressure of the cooker come out.
Process of making masala
Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan. Reduce the flame to low and put ½ tsp of mustard seeds, ½ tsp of cumin seeds, 1.5 tsp of coriander powder, 10-12 curry leaves, 1 tsp of grated ginger and 1 finely chopped green chilli in the hot oil. Fry these spices a little, then add finely chopped 2 tomatoes (seeds removed) and 1 tsp of salt to it.
Now cook the tomatoes till they are completely mashed. Mix lightly, add ½ pinch of asafoetida to it, then cover and cook on low flame for 2 minutes. After the time is up, mash the tomatoes, then add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, 2 tsp of kashmiri red chilli and 2 tbsp of coconut powder. Cook them by mashing the tomatoes well and mixing the spices. It will be ready when the oil separates from spices.
Process of making Misal
After the oil is separated from the masala, put the lentils in the spices and add 3 cups of water, tsp garam masala and 1 small spoonful of jaggery. Cover it and cook it for 4-5 minutes. When the time is up, add juice of lemon and 2-3 tsp green coriander to it. Mix them well and take them out, misal will be ready.
Process of serving Misal Pav
Put misal on the plate and keep pav, salad of choice and lemon with it. Keep some namkeen, some boondi and a little thin sev with it. Pour some namkeen, boondi, sev and green coriander over the misal and serve the misal pav and enjoy its taste.
Suggestions
If you like to eat onions, then after roasting cumin and mustard seeds, add one finely chopped onion and fry till it turns brown, do everything else according to the procedure.
