As mentioned above, the 3-types of Modak that we will be preparing are Sattu Modak, Peanut Modak, and Chocolate Modak. Let’s start with Sattu Modak.
Sattu Modak Recipe:
Pour ½ cup of Sattu in a bowl. It is easily available at general stores or online. If not, then take roasted chana, peel their cover, and grind them. Your Sattu flour is ready.
Add 6 tbsp of sugar powder, 1 tbsp of finely chopped almond, ½ tsp of coarsely crushed cardamom, 2 tbsp of desi ghee to the bowl. Mix the contents well. You will get a dough-like concoction.
Add 1 tsp of milk to bring binding. Once done, take a Modak mold and dust it with sugar powder from inside. This way, it will become easy to pull out the prepared Modak.
Close the mold and press a dough ball inside. Press the dough ball properly so that it can take perfect shape. Next, unmold the Modak carefully and repeat the same with the rest of the dough.
Sattu Modak Without using a mold:
Take a ball size dough and place it in your palm. Shape it in such a way that it is flat from the bottom and pointed from the top. With the help of a spoon draw lines on Modak.
Peanut Modak Recipe:
Add ½ cup of roasted peanuts to a grinder and grind them. Once done, pour the ground peanut powder into a bowl.
Add 2 tbsp of desiccated coconut, 3 tbsp of condensed milk, ¼ tsp of coarsely crushed cardamom powder, and 1 tsp of finely chopped Pistachio (optional) to the bowl. Mix everything well.
Now, we will prepare Modak from the prepared dough. The shaping process is the same as Sattu Modak, dust the mold with sugar powder, close and press a dough ball inside the mold.
Once done, unmold the Modak and repeat the same for the remaining mixture.
Chocolate Modak Recipe:
Chocolate Modak Recipe- a long wait finally comes to an end. Chocolate Modaks are always the kids’ favorite. We will prepare the chocolate Modaks using Oreo biscuits.
Take 1-packet of oreo biscuit (12 pieces). Put the biscuits in the mixture jar after breaking them. Grind the biscuits and ready the powder.
The powder already has sugar, cream, and cocoa powder. We will add 5-6 chopped cashew. Pour 1 tbsp of milk and mix well. The concoction still looks dry, add ½ tsp of milk again.
Once the dough is ready, start preparing the Modak. Dust the mold, press the dough ball inside, unmold carefully, and repeat.
All the Modaks are ready. Offer them to Lord Ganesh or serve them to your family.
