How to boil arbi ?

One thing that always bothers us while making arbi sabzi is how to reduce the stickiness in arbi and we get nice sabzi. Let's see how to boil arbi?

Ingredients

  • Arbi - 500 grams
  • Water - 1-1.5 cup

How to boil Colocasia ?

Firstly, make sure you buy good quality and clean arbi with nice shape and texture. Arbi should be round, thick and smooth. 

Before boiling arbi, wash them thoroughly with water. Place arbis in pressure cooker and add water into it. 

Close the pressure cooker and place it on flame. Boil the arbi till one whistle. After one simmer, reduce the flame and cook arbis for 2-3 minutes. After 3 minutes turn off the flame, arbi is aptly boiled. Allow the steam to escape and then open the lid. Take out arbis from pressure cooker and allow them to cool. If you peel steaming hot arbis then they can get too gooey and sticky. 

Arbi is now cooled, peel them. Boiled and peeled arbi is ready, now you can use it for making sabzi. Make sure you don't stir the arbi too rigorously while making sabzi else it can get gooey and sticky. 

Suggestion:

Boil arbi and store it in refrigerator, Peel the next day, this way arbi will not get gooey or sticky.
