Appam Manchurian Recipe - Chilli Appam Recipe

Indo-Chinese andSouthern India’s recipes fusion is liked a lot these days. We have already prepared noodles dosa, today we’ll make fusion of Appam .i.e. Chilly Appam.

Ingredients for Chilli Appam Recipe

  • Idli batter – 2 cup
  • Capsicum – 2
  • Green coriander – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Oil -2 tbsp
  • Ginger – 1 inch piece (cut thinly lengthwise)
  • Tomato sauce – 2 tbsp
  • Soya sauce – ½ tsp
  • Chilly sauce – ½ tsp
  • Vinegar – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Red chilly powder – less than ¼ tsp 

How to make Chilli Appam Recipe

Add and mix 1/4 tsp salt in the idli batter. 

Preheat appam make and pour some oil in each mold on it. Now take batter in a spoon and pour 1 tsp batter in each mold. After filling all the molds, cover it and cook for 2 minutes on medium-low flame. When the turn slight brown in color from beneath, turn the sides. Cook appams until they turn golden brown in color from both sides. 

Take out the ready appams in a plate and prepare the second appam. Similarly prepare all the appam. 

Wash capsicum and remove seeds. Now cut it into small chunks. Preheat some oil in a wok. When oil is hot, place finely chopped ginger and capsicum into it. Cover and cook for 1 minute on low flame. Now add tomato sauce, salt, chilly sauce, vinegar, soya sauce, red chilly powder and mix everything really well. 

Now add appam to it and cook well. Also, add some freshly crushed black pepper. Mix well. Chilly Appam is ready, take them out in a plate and garnish with some green coriander leaves. Serve steaming hot and relish eating. 

Suggestion:

If you wish to make chilly appam with onions, then take 1 onion, cut it thinly. When oil is heated well, place the onions and saute until they turn pinkish in color. In same order, add rest of the ingredients and make appam.
